LINDSBORG, KANSAS, USA, 2024-Nov-8 — /Travel PR News/ — The Lindsborg Convention & Visitors Bureau earned multiple Travel Industry Association marketing awards at the 2024 Kansas Tourism Conference held in Olathe.
“The Travel Industry Association of Kansas seeks to promote travel across the state through programming that engages all sizes of destination marketing organizations, enabling them to provide unified communication to the Kansas Legislature about key issues that affect travel in Kansas,” said Holly Lofton, director of the Lindsborg CVB and current President of the Travel Industry Association of Kansas. “These joint efforts provide the groundwork for the future of Kansas tourism with new policies and cooperative efforts that grow the quality of life for everyone at the local level. The annual marketing awards showcase our best efforts and practices in creative thinking, collaborative efforts, and resource management.”
Out of seven categories, Visit Lindsborg staff accepted top honors in five. Awarded to Lindsborg were Best Collaboration, Best Event, Best Online Media, and Best Print Marketing in the Medium Budget Division. Finally, the judges chose Lindsborg as Best in Show for its “Starry, Starry Night at Coronado Heights” collaboration with Hutchinson’s Kansas Cosmosphere.
Best Collaboration
Visit Lindsborg joined Visit Wichita to fund digital billboard advertising. The judges appreciated the substantial cost savings and mutual benefit for both communities. “Excellent strategy. Well executed,” one judge said.
Best Print Marketing
AARP Magazine’s December 2023/January 2024 issue named Lindsborg as one of six Great Places to Live 2024 Edition (PDF). The magazine featured Boise, Idaho, population 236,634, next to Lindsborg, population 3,801. The editors used recommendations from their nationwide network, data, and, finally, regional journalists. The magazine relied on the journalists’ “keen sense of these places. Because in the end, ‘charm’ or ‘comfort’ or ‘feeling at peace’ … can only be determined by those who know.”
One of the award judges said, “Congrats on reaching a large audience of aging readers, quite possibly considering a new place to reside. If there was a publication that could get Lindsborg in the forefront of readers, this is it.” Another commented, “Score! A wonderful reward for your constant efforts.”
Best Event
The Starry, Starry Night event earned two trophies, Best Event and Best in Show. One judge called it “stellar.” Another noted, “Stargazing in Kansas is something we don’t promote enough so I applaud you for doing something different.”
Best Online/Digital Media
Lindsborg purchased ads in Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, Wichita. The rotating images provided an attractive picture of Lindsborg. “I am ever impressed by how you bring your constituents together to support and fund your initiatives,” a judge said. “Your ads are well designed and impactful.”
“Lindsborg was delighted with the results of this past year of work,” Lofton said. “These honors show the potential of harnessing creative marketing strategies, regional and community partnerships, grant funding from Kansas Tourism, and the superb hospitality Lindsborg is known for.”
