The Finnish Air Traffic Controllers’ Association announced industrial action on Tuesday, August 13

2013-08-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Finnish Air Traffic Controllers’ Association has announced to begin an industrial action on Tuesday, August 13 at 8 am.

The Finnish airport operator Finavia Corp. aims to organize its operational activities so that the industrial action’s impact on air traffic would be as minimal as possible.

Air traffic is handled normally at the moment and no delays or cancellations will occure until so far.

Online departure and flights times are displayed on Helsinki Aiport’s and Finavia’s website. Passengers are also requested to follow information provided by airlines.

Finavia’s primary aim is to secure international air traffic at Helsinki Airport and on key network airports in Finland. In addition, Finavia works to enable operation of the main domestic routes. During the industrial actions the duties of air traffic controllers will be carried out by the supervisors.

Finavia ensures that during the industrial action air traffic is controlled in a safe manner. Finavia continues to carry out changes affecting air traffic services in a manner that does not in any way risk the safety of air traffic. Finnish Transport Safety Agency TraFi monitors Finavia’s activities.

Air Traffic Controllers annouced of industrial actions as they were unable to reach an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement. Currently air traffic controllers do not have a valid collective agreement.
