The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) to recognize Delta Air Lines First Officer Ali Frohlich as Outstanding ALPA Airport Safety Liaison (ASL)

Panama City, Fla., Pilot Advances Aviation Safety

WASHINGTON, 2014-8-11 — /Travel PR News/ — The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) will recognize Delta Air Lines First Officer Ali Frohlich as an Outstanding ALPA Airport Safety Liaison (ASL) for his work advancing aviation safety at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP). The prestigious award will be presented at ALPA’s 60th Air Safety Forum, to be held August 4–7 in Washington, D.C.

“F/O Frohlich has spent more than 10 years as the ASL in the Panama City area, providing a pilot’s safety perspective and ensuring that our concerns as airline pilots are heard,” said ALPA president Capt. Lee Moak. “He represents ALPA as a safety advocate at regularly scheduled meetings with the Airport Board and Technical Advisory Committee. F/O Frohlich’s expertise ensures that stakeholders with both the Board and the Advisory Committee continuously seek his input. ALPA commends him for safeguarding airline passengers, crews, and cargo at ECP and all across our air transportation system.”

During his decade of service, F/O Frohlich has helped promote and construct the nation’s first major airport since 2001 (ECP) and he has followed up to develop and incorporate numerous safety enhancements into the airport master plan. In doing so, he has fostered a strong partnership between ECP and ALPA and used the resources of ALPA’s Engineering and Air Safety Department during the development of the concept and design of the new airport. He continues to coordinate with ALPA for advice on how to best proceed with current improvement plans, including construction of additional runways that are required to meet the airport’s growing needs in the future.

“F/O Frohlich’s expertise and guidance were instrumental during the initial planning of the new airport,” said Capt. Moak. “Using the vast ALPA resources, he convinced the Airport Board to increase the length of a planned new runway to safely accommodate more airline traffic under adverse weather conditions. We applaud his work to promote safety and continual improvement at ECP.”

F/O Frolich’s contributions to his local airport are not confined to improving infrastructure and advancing safety. He was recently highlighted by local news media for his generous Christmas and Thanksgiving gifts to on-duty airport workers.
