THAT’S HOW MANY POUNDS OF SNAKE?

2012-09-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — Largest snake at Zoo Atlanta will be weighed and measured on September 18

WHO:

Just how big is she? Take a guess during a public demonstration of the annual weighing and measurement of the World of Reptiles’ largest resident, a female reticulated python, on Tuesday, September 18.

WHAT:

The reticulated python is weighed and measured once a year, but Tuesday marks the the first time in years that guests have been able to witness the event. The snake, who has fascinated guests for years from her corner enclosure in the World of Reptiles, will be handled by members of the Zoo’s Herpetology Department.

Native to Southeast Asia, reticulated pythons are the world’s longest snake species. The snakes are non-venomous constrictors and ambush predators, with a wild diet that includes mammals as large as pigs.
