2013-03-01 — /travelprnews.com/ — SWISS is adjusting the international surcharge (formerly known as the fuel surcharge) for its intercontinental flights with effect from 8 March. The increase will apply to all tickets for intercontinental air travel originating in Switzerland in all seating classes. At the same time, SWISS is abolishing its international surcharge on tickets for infants systemwide.

SWISS is constrained to modify the international surcharge (formerly known as the fuel surcharge) on its intercontinental services in view of the constantly-high fuel prices and the still highly competitive market environment. The surcharge will be raised by CHF 20, from CHF 172 to CHF 192 per sector. Certain fares (such as low-fare categories and special offers) and routes will not be affected by the surcharge increase.

At the same time, SWISS is abolishing its international surcharge on flight tickets for infants (aged under two) on all routes systemwide. This action in being taken in response to customer sentiment, and also brings SWISS’s international surcharge policy in line with practice elsewhere within the Lufthansa Group.

The international surcharge increase will apply to tickets for intercontinental air travel originating in Switzerland which are issued from 8 March onwards. Tickets issued up to and including 7 March will be subject to the present surcharge provisions.
