2012-10-2 — /travelprnews.com/ — SWISS Business travellers will be enjoying some special inflight fare between 3 and 9 October: to mark the “La Castagnata” chestnut festival in Southern Switzerland, SWISS will be serving them cold cuts with chestnuts, brasato with polenta and sugar-snap peas and a chestnut mousse with plum sauce alongside the usual culinary offerings on selected inbound European flights. Customers will also be provided with illustrated information on this traditional Canton Ticino folk festival, which will be held this year on 6 and 13 October.
The special fare is being offered under the new “SWISS Traditions” culinary concept that was launched this February. The concept sees traditional Swiss dishes supplemented every six weeks or so with specialities that are inspired by the latest festival on the Swiss cultural calendar. While the focus in the first half of 2012 was on German-speaking Switzerland, including Basel’s “Fasnacht” and Zurich’s “Sechseläuten”, the speciality weeks in the second half-year put the spotlight on the country’s French- and Italian-speaking traditions: after “La Castagnata”, the 2012 programme will conclude in December with the “Fête de l’Escalade”, a celebration of Western Switzerland.
