Steak lovers in for a treat at Copenhagen Airport

2012-07-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — The opening of MASH – one of the most popular Danish restaurants since 2009 – marks a new chapter of the F&B history at Copenhagen Airport. Food and beverage company SSP is the business partner behind the venture, which is part of Copenhagen Airport’s strategy of offering passengers the right mix of strong international brands and solid local heroes.

Last autumn, the successful steak enthusiasts behind MASH (Modern American Steak House) unveiled their plans to open a restaurant at Copenhagen Airport. The plans now materialise as MASH welcomes the first guests at Copenhagen Airport.

“Our vision is to be one of the world’s best steak houses and to cater to the needs and wants of the more particular and quality conscious travelers at Copenhagen Airport. People will recognise the concept from our other restaurants – it will be perfect for the many business people seeking a quality setting for a working lunch and for the leisure travelers looking to kick start the vacation or weekend getaway in style with a high quality meal,” said Mikkel Glahn, co-owner of MASH.

The addition of MASH to the brand mix mirrors the very essence of Copenhagen Airport’s food & beverage strategy:

“We strive to provide the optimal mix of strong international brands and solid ‘local heroes’ at all times. MASH has been one of the strongest Danish restaurant concepts since 2009, and the restaurant compliments our effort to convey a strong sense of place. With the opening of MASH, Copenhagen Airport presents a true local hero with international appeal,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales & Marketing at Copenhagen Airports A/S.

A world class restaurant for a world class hub
Behind the new venture is Denmark’s largest food and beverage operator, SSP, which has worked with Copenhagen Airports since 1975.

“Copenhagen Airport was once again rated northern Europe’s best airport and the world’s second-best airport in its size category in the latest annual Skytrax survey. A world class airport needs a world class restaurant. MASH will clearly help support and strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s position in that respect,” said Henrik Andersen, CEO of SSP.

“We are very proud of our concept and are always on the lookout for new and attractive locations. When the opportunity to open a restaurant at Copenhagen Airport arose, we didn’t have to think twice about it. The airport has long been at the top of our list of potential prestigious locations in Denmark. This new location will strengthen our global brand profile and help open doors, not only in Denmark, but also in the international markets,” said Jesper Boelskifte, CEO and co-founder of MASH.

The new MASH restaurant is located in the airside area of Terminal 2.
