ROME, 2021-Nov-18 — /Travel PR News/ — StatusMatch.com has partnered with Emirates to launch a new initiative that offers Italian travellers the benefits of Gold status when flying. From today, frequent travellers who hold an eligible premium status with select major airlines operating in Italy can apply to get their status matched with Emirates Skywards, the award winning loyalty programme of Emirates.
A “status match” refers to the matching up of equivalent or near-equivalent premium membership statuses between different participating airlines. Customers use status matching when they need to switch to a new loyalty program, in order to retain their loyalty status and benefits.
To apply, eligible customers can visit the StatusMatch.com website and pay a EUR79 application fee. Approved customers can look forward to 12 months at Emirates Skywards Gold and enjoy benefits including priority check-in and boarding, additional baggage allowance, and access to Emirates lounges. Customers who are not existing Emirates Skywards members can join the programme here.
Due to the failure and subsequent shutdown of Italian flag carrier Alitalia, approximately 6 million customers who were part of the MilleMiglia frequent flyer program were stranded with ambiguity on their membership statuses and benefits.
“When Alitalia stopped flying, many Italians were left holding statuses in the MilleMiglia program with nowhere to go. This offer gives them certainty so they can say ‘Ciao Alitalia’ and ‘Bongiorno Emirates’”, said Mark Ross-Smith, CEO of Status Match.
This offer is open to all Italian travellers holding a status with participating major European airlines. For more information on the program, visit emirates.statusmatch.com.
