Airport Authority partners with St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival
ST. JOHN’S, NL, 2019-May-24 — /Travel PR News/ — St. John’s International Airport Authority announced today (May 21, 2019) it is partnering with St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival to launch the Festival’s Films on the Go, as part of the YYT Entertainment Series. Over the summer season, passengers waiting in the Departures Lounge will have the opportunity to be entertained by a variety of short films that were selected from those featured at the 2018 St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival.
“We are delighted to partner with the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival, to offer entertainment to our passengers and provide a unique experience at our Airport, as well as showcase this well-regarded local Festival and its Films on the Go series,” said Marie Manning, Director – Marketing and Business Development, St. John’s International Airport Authority. “We are constantly looking for ways to ensure passengers travelling though our Airport have an exceptional experience. With the addition of many new services and amenities added as a result of the expanded Departures area in July 2018, this provides one more reason for passengers to arrive at the airport early,” said Manning.
The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is one of the longest running women’s film festivals in the world and will celebrate its 30th annual Festival October 16-20, 2019 in St. John’s. Films on the Go is a collection of local and international short films from the previous year’s festival that are on tour to venues across the province and beyond. Located near Gate 7 in the Departures Lounge, the Airport provides another avenue for viewing these films that would otherwise not be accessible.
“We were voted one of USA Today’s Top 10 film festivals in the world worth travelling to, so naturally we are thrilled to partner with the St. John’s International Airport to share our Films on the Go program. We hope that travelers enjoy these fantastic films and that we get the opportunity to welcome them back to St. John’s for our annual Festival in October,” said Jenn Brown, Executive Director of the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival.
St. John’s International Airport Authority’s partnership with the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival was assisted by Business and Arts Newfoundland and Labrador (BANL). The Airport Authority is committed to working with the arts community to highlight local talent in the region.
