St. John’s International Airport Authority announced named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers for 2020

ST. JOHN’S, NL, 2020-Jan-14 — /Travel PR News/ — The St. John’s International Airport Authority announced today ( January 09, 2020) that it was named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers for 2020.

“We’re tremendously proud to be recognized as a top employer in the region,” says Peter Avery, CEO of St. John’s International Airport Authority. “Protecting passengers and ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all our employees, airport partners and the communities we serve is always the Authority’s top priority. We strive to create an environment where all of our employees enjoy coming to work every day.”

The designation is unique as it recognizes the employers in Canada’s four Atlantic Provinces that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Canada’s Top 100 Employers evaluates the various candidates based on an assessment focused on eight key aspects: physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

The award recognizes St. John’s International Airport Authority for its leadership in a number of areas. Here are some reasons why the Airport Authority was selected one of Atlantic Canada’s top employers:

 In addition to in-house job training initiatives, St. John’s International Airport Authority offers employees tuition subsidies for courses related and not directly related to their position

 St. John’s International Airport Authority provides excellent family-friendly benefits, including maternity and parental leave top-up for mothers (to 93 per cent of salary for up to 50 weeks) and parental top-up for fathers and adoptive parents (to 93 per cent of salary for up to 35 weeks)

 St. John’s International Airport Authority encourages employees to keep fit with free memberships to an onsite fitness facility that’s open 24 hours, seven days a week
