(PRESS RELEASE) JOHANNESBURG, 2025-Jul-28 — /Travel PR News/ — South African Airways (SAA) will launch its first nonstop service between Cape Town and Mauritius on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, marking a strategic step forward in expanding its route network and boosting regional tourism. This new connection provides greater accessibility for travelers in the Western Cape, linking two premier leisure destinations in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean.

The Cape Town–Mauritius route will operate three times weekly—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—offering passengers flexible travel options. Outbound flights will depart Cape Town International Airport at 09:25 AM and arrive in Mauritius at 4:30 PM, with a flight time of approximately five hours. The return flight leaves Mauritius at 5:20 PM and lands in Cape Town at 9:30 PM. From mid-January to mid-March 2026, the frequency will be temporarily reduced to twice weekly to align with seasonal demand.

SAA Chief Executive Officer Professor John Lamola hailed the launch as a key milestone: “Introducing a direct service between Cape Town and Mauritius is a significant achievement for our team and represents our dedication to fostering regional travel and strengthening our airline’s presence in key leisure markets. We are proud to offer travelers the opportunity to enjoy SAA’s renowned hospitality and service on this exciting new route.”

This expansion is part of SAA’s broader strategy to deepen connectivity and offer customers enhanced travel options. The flight schedule has been developed in close collaboration with South African tour operators to match peak travel patterns and deliver added convenience for both vacationers and travel planners.

Tebogo Tsimane, Chief Commercial Officer of SAA, added: “Our flight timing and frequency are tailored to meet traveler expectations, especially during holiday periods. This partnership-driven planning reflects our mission to provide seamless, flexible, and customer-focused travel experiences.”

Passengers can now book flights on this new route via SAA’s official website at www.flysaa.com or through accredited travel agents.
