(IN SHORT) Six Senses has signed a new hotel project in Beijing’s Haidian District, marking its second property in Greater China and expanding its presence within a historically significant cultural area. Developed in partnership with Beijing Zhongguancun Avenue Construction & Development Group, the project forms part of the regeneration of Liulangzhuang and will integrate heritage, wellness, and sustainability. The hotel will feature 75 suites inspired by traditional courtyard homes, along with water-based design elements, wellness programmes, and sustainability-focused guest experiences. As part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio, Six Senses continues to grow globally while maintaining its focus on regenerative hospitality and culturally immersive destinations.

(PRESS RELEASE) BANGKOK, Thailand, 2026-Apr-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Six Senses has announced plans to expand its presence in China with the signing of Six Senses Beijing, a new hotel project set to open in the Haidian District of the Chinese capital. The development is being carried out in partnership with Beijing Zhongguancun Avenue Construction & Development Group as part of the wider regeneration of Liulangzhuang, an area evolving into a hub for cultural activity and international exchange.

Located within Beijing’s historically significant Three Hills and Five Gardens cultural area—closely linked to the Summer Palace and Qing dynasty imperial retreats—the project aims to integrate heritage preservation with contemporary hospitality design.

Neil Palmer, Chief Operating Officer of Six Senses, highlighted the significance of the location, noting that the brand continues to seek destinations with strong cultural narratives. He emphasised that the project will create an urban retreat that reflects the heritage of Beijing while delivering the restorative and regenerative experiences associated with Six Senses.

Six Senses Beijing will become the brand’s second property in Greater China, complementing Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain. The development forms part of Six Senses’ broader global expansion strategy, which includes properties in major cities such as Rome, Kyoto, and London, while maintaining a focus on immersive and wellness-driven guest experiences.

Cheng Yue, Chairman of Beijing Haidian Urban Renewal Development Co Ltd, noted that the project reflects a shared commitment to delivering a high-quality destination with a strong emphasis on sustainability and wellness, from design through to operation.

The new property will be built on land historically used as imperial rice paddies, incorporating restored waterways and lotus ponds to reflect the area’s heritage. The design approach aligns with Six Senses’ regenerative philosophy, aiming to enhance both environmental and community outcomes.

The hotel will feature 75 guest rooms and suites, ranging from one to four bedrooms, inspired by traditional siheyuan courtyard residences. Architectural elements will blend historic forms with modern interpretations, with some accommodations offering private gardens, boat access, or shared courtyards framed by landscaped greenery. The layout will be spread across two interconnected sites linked by hutong-style pathways.

Dining and social spaces will be positioned along the water, with pavilions designed to merge traditional influences with contemporary aesthetics. A two-storey residence will provide a flexible venue for private events, accessible either by boat or by road.

Wellness will remain central to the guest experience, with a range of offerings including personalised health assessments, biohacking programmes, and the brand’s Sleep With Six Senses concept. These experiences are designed to support physical and mental restoration through a combination of modern science and traditional practices.

The property will also include signature features such as the Earth Lab, which offers interactive workshops on sustainable living, and the Alchemy Bar, where guests can create customised botanical products for use in spa treatments.

Six Senses continues to expand globally as part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio. The brand currently operates 27 properties across 20 countries and maintains an active development pipeline across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
