Sheremetyevo Airport staff recognized for significant contribution to the development and sustainable operation of Russia’s transportation system

Moscow, Russia, 2020-Feb-27 — /Travel PR News/ — On February 25, 2020, the Minister of Transportation of the Russian Federation awarded the staff of Sheremetyevo International Airport a plaque “In Commemoration of the 210th Anniversary of the Transportation Department and Education” for their significant contribution to the development and sustainable operation of the country’s transportation system. The award was bestowed during a ceremony at the Ministry of Transportation of the Russian Federation.

Evgeny Dietrich, Minister of Transportation of the Russian Federation, personally awarded the honorary prize. On behalf of Sheremetyevo Airport, it was received by Dmitry Kaigorodov, Deputy Director General of JSC SIA for the Management of Airport Terminal Complexes and Special Flight Service.

The plaque “In Commemoration of the 210th Anniversary of the Transportation Department and Education” is awarded by the Minister of Transportation of the Russian Federation to personnel of organizations that have made a significant contribution to the development and sustainable operation of the country’s transportation system, as well as to the development and improvement of education in the field of transportation and industry-specific science.

Sheremetyevo International Airport is the leader among Russian airports both in the amount of handled cargo and in the number of passengers served. In 2019, Sheremetyevo set a new record by serving 49.9 million passengers.

Sheremetyevo Airport provides top quality service to passengers and airlines and guarantees flight punctuality. Sheremetyevo was recognized as the world’s most punctual airport in the Mega Airports category (over 30 million departing seats per annum on scheduled flights) in 2019, according to a ranking by the British research company OAG. Its punctuality rate of 87% was the highest among the global airports in this category. Also in 2019, Sheremetyevo Airport was recognized as a world leader in flight punctuality according to a study by the Cirium analytical agency.

In 2019, Sheremetyevo airport received a perfect 5-star rating from Skytrax for its new Terminal B.

2018 saw Sheremetyevo top the ASQ ACI research program’s ranking for customer service among the largest airports in Europe whose passenger traffic exceeded 40 million per year and enter the list of the world’s best airports, ACI Director General’s Roll of Excellence.
