Shannon Airport welcomes Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe on his first official visit to the airport and county since his appointment in July

Shannon, Ireland, 2014-8-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Paschal Donohoe, TD, was welcomed to Shannon Airport today by its Chairman Rose Hynes and CEO Neil Pakey on his first official visit to the airport and county since his appointment in July to the post.

The Minister was in Shannon as part of a day-long visit to Clare to launch Bus Éireann’s enhanced services to the Cliffs of Moher, Clare coast and the airport.

Speaking following a meeting with Minister Donohoe, Shannon Group Chairman Rose Hynes said,  “We are very pleased to have been able to welcome Minister Donohoe to Shannon and brief him with regard to the progress we are making and the opportunities that lie ahead for Shannon.   The Minister was keen to hear about our plans and very much also recognises the key role it is already playing in the ongoing economic recovery of the region.”

Said Shannon CEO Neil Pakey:  “We are delighted to welcome Minister Donohoe to Shannon Airport for his first official visit in his new role and, indeed, the Bus Éireann CEO, Martin Nolan.  Shannon Airport is a key catalyst for growth for the West of Ireland and we look forward to working with Minister Donohoe to ensure the momentum already achieved here since the airport achieved independence in January of last year is continued.  We recognise the key role also that Bus Éireann plays in providing access to and from Shannon for our passengers.  We wish them well on their route initiatives and look forward to playing a part in the success of these services.”
