Shannon, Ireland, 2015-5-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Among those on the first flight to Izmir were Anne and Jane Quigley, Boher, Co. Limerick.
A Turkish delight for 3,000 Shannon passengers has begun with a weekly charter to the hugely popular Izmir commencing at the weekend.
The service will run until September 19th carrying passengers to the sun-kissed city on the western tip of Anatolia throughout the summer. It is the latest addition to the Shannon summer schedule, which has also seen a number of other services to the US, Europe and UK with increased capacity this year.
The return of the Turkey service is proving hugely popular, with Izmir serving Kusadasi, one of the largest and best known of the Aegean Sea holiday resorts in Turkey.
Welcoming its commencement Shannon Airport Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Murphy said, “There is a real buzz around the airport at the moment, with big numbers arriving and departing daily for their summer holidays and the commencement of the Sunway service to Turkey adds to this.
“Turkey is one of the most popular sun destinations for the Irish and having it back this summer means that outbound tourists to Turkey from this region don’t have to travel long distances to get their flight. We look forward to working with Sunway to ensuring its continued success.”
To mark its return, operator of the charter Sunway Holidays is offering up a hugely attractive competition on the Shannon Airport Facebook page www.facebook.com/Shannon.Airport.Official with a prize of flights for two people plus 4-star accommodation in the Golden Day Wings Hotel in Kusadasi, which can be used in June or September. Closing date for the competition is 2.00pm Friday 29th May.
Passengers can book seats only or packages with Sunway. Log onto www.sunway.ie
