Shannon Airport expects bumper August bank holiday period with passenger numbers set to soar by 20% over the same period last year

Shannon, Ireland, 2014-8-7 — /Travel PR News/ — Shannon Airport is expecting a bumper August bank holiday period with passenger numbers set to soar by 20% over the same period last year.

Commenting on the results, Niall Maloney, Airport Operations Director at Shannon Airport said that the 20% increase in Bank Holiday passengers through the airport over the same period last year is further evidence of the return to growth being experienced by the tourism market here and abroad.

“The August Bank Holiday period is the busiest of the year at all airports and Shannon will be a hive of activity over the coming days.  We will have over 42,000 passengers through the airport over the Bank Holiday period, which is an increase of 20% on the same time last year.

“The good news continues with figures just released for the first three weeks in July confirming a massive 54% increase in European passenger numbers and a 23% increase in overall passenger numbers at the airport over the same period last year.

“This Bank holiday should further boost what has already been a much improved summer season for tourism on the west coast and for Shannon Airport,” he concluded.
