(PRESS RELEASE) Stockholm, Sweden, 2024-Dec-3 — /Travel PR News/ — SAS is set to expand its intercontinental offerings with a groundbreaking direct route between Copenhagen and Seoul, launching on September 12, 2025. This marks the first-ever direct connection between Scandinavia and South Korea. Initially, the route will operate four times per week during the summer season and three times weekly in the winter.

This new route strengthens SAS’s intercontinental network, enhancing Copenhagen’s position as a key gateway for international travel. It is designed to cater to the increasing number of Korean travelers eager to explore Scandinavia, while also offering convenient connections to the rest of Europe via SAS’s extensive network.

The launch of the Copenhagen-Seoul route, alongside the introduction of a Seattle service in May 2025, will bring SAS’s total number of intercontinental destinations from Copenhagen to 14. These new routes further bolster SAS’s commitment to making Copenhagen a leading global hub for travel, connecting Scandinavia to key international markets.

Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS, commented, “This new route underscores our dedication to expanding connectivity and meeting the growing demand for travel between Scandinavia and Korea. Seoul is a vibrant hub for culture, innovation, and business, making it a key addition to our network. As a proud member of SkyTeam, this route will enhance the seamless connectivity we provide for passengers traveling from Scandinavia to destinations across the globe. We’re excited to offer this landmark service.”

Flights will be operated by the eco-friendly Airbus A350, which can carry up to 300 passengers. Evening departures are scheduled to maximize travelers’ time at their destination while optimizing connectivity to European cities.

In recent years, South Korea has attracted a growing number of Scandinavian visitors, drawn by the country’s rich cultural heritage and the global popularity of K-pop, Korean dramas, and cuisine. Seoul, a vibrant mix of modern skyscrapers and ancient palaces, serves as a hub for business, especially in green technology, digital industries, and innovation. Additionally, Incheon International Airport, one of the busiest global hubs for freight, handled over 2.76 million tons of cargo in 2023, further emphasizing the significance of this new connection.
