2012-09-28 — /travelprnews.com/ — Caltrans is replacing twelve sections (60 Feet) of the bridge deck and installing a new seismic joint on the San Mateo – Hayward Bridge. To complete this work, Caltrans will need to close the San Mateo Bridge (State Route 92) on two full consecutive weekends, beginning on the weekend of Friday, October 19 and continuing on the following weekend, Friday, October 26.
Caltrans will completely close the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge from 10:00 p.m. Friday night, October 19, until Monday morning, October 22, at 5 a.m. A similar schedule will be followed for the weekend of October 26 through October 29. The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will be open Monday through Friday for the weekday commute.
Alternate routes for motorists have been identified to provide multiple ways for motorists to reach their destinations during the two full-weekend closures. Motorists will be rerouted to the Bay Bridge (Interstate 80), the Dumbarton Bridge (State Route 84) or State Route 237 as a detour. Notification signs will be posted and clearly visible as of September 28 at many locations in the Bay Area.
