San Diego International Airport hosted a dedication of Admiral Boland Way in honor of Rear Admiral Bruce Boland

The Airport Authority Honors Late Rear Admiral Bruce Boland with Dedication Ceremony

SAN DIEGO, 2015-6-5 — /Travel PR News/ — San Diego International Airport hosted a dedication on Wednesday of Admiral Boland Way, on the north side of the airport, in honor of Rear Admiral Bruce Boland, a former Airport Authority Board member.

Thella F. Bowens, President/CEO, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority; Robert H. Gleason, Board Chair, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority; and Elaine Boland, wife of the late Rear Admiral, were among the speakers at the ceremony.

Guests witnessed the unveiling of the proposed Admiral Boland Way street sign, and watched as the Boland family drove down Admiral Boland Way for the first time.

Those in attendance lauded the guidance, wisdom and wealth of experience that Admiral Boland contributed to the Airport Authority from 2006 to 2014, and also his contributions as a Vietnam War hero and his public service to the San Diego community.

“Admiral Boland knew the true meaning of leadership, and it is our honor to stand here today and dedicate this street to him,” Gleason said.

“Admiral Boland commanded the respect and earned the love of everyone at the Airport Authority and on the Board,” Bowens said. “We were so fortunate to have had this national hero among our ranks, and so lucky to be able to call him our friend.”
