RYANAIR CONDEMNS POLICE UNIONS OVER PLANNED INDUSTRIAL ACTION AT BRUSSELS CHARLEROI

WALLONIAN GOVERNMENT MUST ENSURE OPERATIONS ARE UNAFFECTED
2012-07-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Ryanair, Europe’s only ultra-low cost airline, today (17 July) condemned the plans of Belgian Police unions who are planning to engage in work-to-rule union action from Wed 18 July, which could result in delays to passengers travelling between Brussels Charleroi Airport and Croatia, Cyprus, Morocco, Ireland and the UK. Ryanair is calling on the Wallonian Govt to intervene in the dispute to prevent needless delays for passengers during what is peak season for travel.
Ryanair is advising passengers travelling from Brussels Charleroi Airport to Croatia, Cyprus, Morocco, Ireland and the UK from 18 July to arrive at least 3 hours prior to their scheduled departure time, as Ryanair intends to operate to schedule to ensure that passengers’ travel plans are not held to ransom by selfish union action.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:
“It is unacceptable that the action of police at the airport could result in delays to passengers travelling through Brussels Charleroi, at what is the busiest time of year for travel. This is a political issue which should not affect operations at Brussels Charleroi and Ryanair is calling on the Wallonian Govt to take action and prevent disruption for passengers. Our advice to passengers travelling from Brussels Charleroi to Croatia, Cyprus, Morocco, Ireland and the UK from 18July is allow extra time to pass through security by arriving three hours before their scheduled departure time.”
