ROANOKE, Va., 2014-9-4 — /Travel PR News/ — The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is pleased to announce the selection of Timothy T. Bradshaw, A.A.E., as the new Executive Director of the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. Bradshaw, 56, is a native of Roanoke and a 1976 graduate of William Byrd High School.
This announcement follows a nationwide search designed to identify one exceptional candidate among a pool of well-qualified applicants. Through this process, members of the Commission identified Bradshaw as the most skilled and qualified candidate, with the airport experience and vision necessary to lead this region’s largest airport to continued growth and prosperity.
Having served in airport management positions for the past 25 years, Bradshaw brings a vast working knowledge of airports thanks to his aviation experience in cities that include Louisville, KY, Owensboro, KY, Bowling Green, KY and Teterboro, NJ, and most recently Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he is serving as Airport Director of the Eastern Iowa Airport, an airport which handles approximately 60% more passengers per year than Roanoke-Blacksburg.
“I am extremely appreciative of the opportunity to come back to this thriving city and experience once again the culture and superior quality of life that is unique to the Roanoke and Blacksburg region,” said Bradshaw “After touring the first class airport facilities and meeting a number of the Commission’s employees, I am excited about the opportunities before us and look forward to working with the regional community and its leaders to provide exceptional airport facilities and services.”
Bradshaw replaces long time Executive Director Jacqueline Shuck, who is retiring at the end of December.
In commenting on Bradshaw’s appointment, Commission Chairman, Bill Gust, stated “The Commission is proud of what has been accomplished in the past thanks to the support of the community leaders, this region’s air travelers and most notably the dedication and hard work of our outgoing Executive Director Jacque Shuck and employees of the Airport Commission. With Tim as executive director, we are confident of our ability not only to weather the air service challenges facing regional airports, but also to excel in meeting the current and future needs of our customers.”
Bradshaw is currently in the process of transitioning from his position and home in Cedar Rapids and relocating to Roanoke. Bradshaw’s first opportunity to address a broad audience of community, business and government officials and leaders will be on October 28thduring the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission’s 3rd Annual Aviation Summit. During the Summit the Commission will present a 25 year retrospective of airport development and accomplishments, followed by an opportunity for Bradshaw to share his goals and vision for the future of air travel in the Roanoke-Blacksburg region.
