(PRESS RELEASE) PALMA DE MALLORCA, 2026-Mar-23 — /Travel PR News/ — RIU has officially reopened the Hotel Riu Palace Nautilus in Torremolinos following a comprehensive refurbishment, elevating the property to the brand’s premium RIU Palace category. This milestone marks the introduction of the first RIU Palace hotel on mainland Spain, reflecting the group’s continued investment in enhancing its portfolio and guest experience.
Situated just 20 metres from the Mediterranean coastline, the four-star hotel benefits from a prime location with convenient access to Malaga Airport and the nearby municipality of Benalmádena. The renovation has transformed the entire property, including all guest rooms, which now feature a refined and timeless design. Neutral colour tones and contemporary styling have been used throughout to create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere focused on comfort and relaxation.
The hotel’s shared spaces have also undergone a complete redesign. The lobby has been reconfigured to maximise views of the Mediterranean from the moment guests arrive, with increased natural light and carefully selected materials contributing to a bright, open, and elegant environment. The updated design balances modern aesthetics with classic elements, maintaining the character of the property while enhancing its visual appeal.
As part of the upgrade, the hotel’s dining offering has been expanded with the addition of the Krystal restaurant, a gourmet à la carte concept that complements the main restaurant, which has also been fully refurbished. The main dining space has been enlarged and now includes an extended terrace, providing guests with an enhanced culinary experience in a more spacious setting.
The renovation also reflects RIU’s sustainability commitments under its Proudly Committed strategy. The hotel has incorporated a range of energy efficiency measures, including the installation of heat exchangers, high-efficiency air conditioning systems, and photovoltaic solar panels. Accessibility has also been improved across the property, with upgrades to common areas and an increase in adapted rooms, now totaling eleven.
RIU currently operates four hotels in Andalusia, including properties in Chiclana, Nerja, and two in Torremolinos. The reopening of the Hotel Riu Palace Nautilus represents the latest step in an extensive programme of renovations across the region, reinforcing the company’s focus on quality, sustainability, and its long-term commitment to Andalusia as a key destination.
