Riders can take Metrolink to 114th annual Golden Dragon Parade in downtown Los Angeles

Metrolink will pass out a limited edition paper train in celebration of Lunar New Year   

LOS ANGELES – 2013-02-12 — /travelprnews.com/ — Metrolink passengers will have the opportunity to travel to the 114th annual Golden Dragon Parade this Saturday. After arriving at Los Angeles Union Station, riders can transfer with no additional charge to the Metro Gold Line Chinatown Station for the 1 p.m. event.

This parade is a community tradition that has grown to include floats, marching bands, government officials and local business leaders. Last year, thousands of people lined the parade route in Chinatown to view the famous dragon dance.

The Lunar New Year Festival commences after the parade with cultural performances by some of the nation’s best Chinese acts. The Chinese New Year Festival is free and open to all ages.

While at Union Station, Metrolink riders can receive a limited-edition paper train in celebration of the Lunar New Year. There will be a limited quantity of this Metrolink souvenir.

Riders can take advantage of Metrolink’s $10 Weekend Pass, which allows people to ride anytime, anywhere systemwide from 7 p.m. on Friday through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. The Weekend Pass includes free rail and bus connections throughout Southern California.

Metrolink will partner with the Orange County Transportation Authority for a pre-celebration event at 8 a.m. at the Irvine Metrolink Station. The opportunity for free Round-Trip Metrolink tickets and other prizes will be available. A special Lunar New Year program with Lion Dance and other entertainment will be on showcase, along with free refreshments.

Attendees will board Metrolink Orange County Line train 661 to Los Angeles departing Irvine at 9 a.m.
