JERSEY, 2015-1-28 — /Travel PR News/ — Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Jersey, we’re delighted to be recognised for their commitment to developing people at the recent Jersey Skills Development Awards.
The awards, held at Fort Regent, were the first of their kind in Jersey and recognise the valuable contributions employers are making to ongoing skills development within their organisations and developing the skills of local young people.
The Gold Award in particular requires an organisation to meet a certain set of criteria, these include; commitment to training and developing the workforce, commitment to the community by offering work experience and a sustained record of offering additional work experience to younger people.
Radisson Blu Jersey has been committed to developing its people and driving the hospitality industry for many years now, with some fantastic results. For new employees and work experience candidates, the hotel has supported Project Trident, Trackers, the Advance to Work scheme, Highlands College Work Experience Partnership Programme and the Back to Work scheme. Many young people coming to the hotel through these schemes have been offered full time work since, and are still working with the hotel today.
When it comes to developing current staff, Radisson Blu Jersey also offers a number of options, such as supporting staff to gain City & Guilds Qualifications and most recently supporting a team member to complete his Level 1 Diploma in Professional Cookery.
Radisson Blu Jersey staff also have the option to attend the Rezidor Business School, which takes place four times a year in different locations around the world. The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group also offers a mentor mentee programme, designed to help team members develop their potential to reach the next level in their careers. These successful programme’s have resulted in great staff retention at the hotel and the internal promotion of more than four team members over the last year.
General Manager, Fergus O’Donovan, said “We have been very proactive with developing skills and talent in Jersey, so I am delighted with this award to recognise our commitment to developing careers in the Hospitality industry. I am grateful to our fantastic team who have all contributed to these initiatives and who are also very proud of our Gold Award.”
