(PRESS RELEASE) Brussels/Bengaluru, 2025-Jan-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Radisson Blu Hotel, Bengaluru Outer Ring Road has made history by becoming the first hotel in Radisson Hotel Group’s global portfolio to receive the prestigious LEED Net Zero Carbon certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). This certification underscores the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, highlighting its significant efforts in reducing its carbon footprint and driving eco-friendly innovation within the region.
The LEED Net Zero Carbon certification goes beyond traditional building certifications, setting new standards in reducing the environmental impact of buildings. With over two decades of experience in certifying high-performance buildings, LEED has recently introduced LEED Zero to certify buildings that achieve net zero carbon emissions. Radisson Blu Hotel, Bengaluru Outer Ring Road has now set a pioneering example in the hospitality sector by achieving this advanced milestone.
Last year, the hotel was awarded the LEED 4.1 O+M Existing Buildings Platinum Certification, and to reach the LEED Net Zero Carbon certification, the hotel has taken bold steps to fully offset its annual carbon emissions, which total 4,038 metric tons. Strategies included installing both onsite and offsite solar power plants, utilizing an onsite biogas plant, and purchasing Gold Standard Verified Carbon Units to offset any remaining emissions. As a result, the hotel is now fully powered by green energy, ensuring net-zero energy consumption year-round.
Beyond energy management, the hotel also excels in other sustainability practices, including:
