Largest Qatar hospitality institutions to participate – Souq Waqif, Diplomatic Club, Katara Hospitality, Katara Cultural Village, Ministry of Culture Arts & Heritage, and QMA
Doha, 2013-03-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will lead the Qatar delegation at ITB Berlin, one of the most important annual tourism events in Europe, from 6-10 March 2013. QTA will host the new state of the art Qatar Pavilion with a design and features that reflect QTA’s new vision to promote and develop the tourism industry in Qatar.
QTA will use the event to outline the major development of tourism infrastructure that is taking place in Doha and highlight the latest buoyant tourist statistics in the 2012 Annual Report. These show that Qatar has made great strides in attracting more regional and overseas tourists to the country. With the opening of several major hotels and many more under construction, Qatar is ready to welcome the world to its shores. QTA has also staged cultural festivals and supported several international business events and sports fixtures to underline the country’s appeal.
HE Eng Issa Al-Mohannadi, Chairman of QTA, said: “QTA sees ITB as an all-important event to showcase Qatar and all our stakeholders as we develop a new tourism strategy for the country that looks to raise awareness of all that Qatar has to offer in Europe and further afield. With its rich authentic cultural offerings and welcoming safe atmosphere, Qatar has become the destination of choice for families, which is borne out by the increase in the number of family visitors in 2012. Qatar is also an established destination for business in the MICE sector and will continue to be the hub of international sports across the whole region with an increasingly significant role to play in the region and on the international stage.”
With continental Europe a key export market for tourism, QTA is aiming to replicate its success with business and sports tourism in other fields such as Leisure, Urban (entertainment and shopping) and Sun and Beach tourism. ITB provides an ideal opportunity for the Qatar delegation to meet with tourism decision makers round the world and do business.
The 18 hotels represented at ITB will be Best Western Doha Hotel, Century Hotel Doha, Grand Hyatt Doha, Hilton Doha, Horizon Manor Hotel, Intercontinental Doha, Intercontinental Doha The City, La Cigale Hotel, Marriott Doha, Retaj Hotels, Ritz-Carlton Doha, Sealine Beach Resort, Sharq Village & Spa, Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, St Regis Doha, Swiss-BelHotel Doha, The Torch Doha and Wyndham Grand Regency Hotel.
