Certificate awarded in recognition of consistent quality, authentic food and service at Qatar Duty Free’s Marché Restaurant
DOHA, Qatar, 2015-6-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Duty Free (QDF) has been accredited ISO 22000 for its 600-seat restaurant with production facilities Marché, in Hamad International Airport (HIA), recognising its commitment to quality, cleanliness and service.
The road towards achieving this internationally recognised certificate began two-and-a-half years ago, before HIA was even open, with rigorous planning and by creating a complete quality assurance programme that is ISO compliant.
As part of this ongoing programme all new staff members who join the company are required to embark on a series of Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) certifications and are trained to value the importance of food safety as part of everything they do. Every member of the team has level 1 HACCP and others also have level 2 and 3.
“We started two-and-a-half years ago, planning to ensure we aligned with ISO practices, so to have been awarded ISO within only nine months of operation is an incredible achievement,” said Senior Vice President Qatar Duty Free, Keith Hunter. “QDF has some extremely exciting concepts coming on line and we are pleased that both HACCP and ISO will form the foundation of everything we do moving forward.”
As the QDF operations are only part of the HIA portfolio, concessionaires and partners are all required to apply HACCP principles and encouraged to work towards ISO certification. QDF audits all outlets and locations on a monthly basis through its independent consultants SGS of Switzerland.
At HIA, QDF offers 40,000 square metres of combined retail, food and beverage facilities, establishing the retailer as a premier shopping and dining destination. With more than 70 retail outlets offering an unprecedented selection of designer labels, fashion, electronics, gourmet foods and much more, Qatar Duty Free at HIA caters to all passengers’ tastes.
In addition, more than 30 cafés and restaurants offer a sumptuous selection of global and local cuisine. Other luxury brands also available at HIA include: Bulgari, Hermès, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Mont Blanc, Rolex and Chanel.
