Doha, Qatar, 2014-1-20 — /travelprnews.com/ — Qatar Airways has made its presence felt at this year’s Bahrain International Air Show by displaying one its Boeing 787 aircraft. Held every year under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the show attracts leading aviation industry companies from the region and around the world.
Thousands of trade, media and public visitors attended the three-day event which concluded last weekend at Sakhir Air Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dignitaries from Qatar who attended include His Excellency Mr. Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport for the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Noaimi, Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and His Excellency Qatar Airways’ Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker.
Addressing local media during the show, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker reinforced the airline’s long-term commitment to growth with continued investment in new aircraft, new routes and this year’s opening of the Hamad International Airport in Doha.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 129 aircraft to 134 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and The Americas.
Over the next few months, the network will grow further with Sharjah and Dubai World Central, both in the UAE (March 1, 2014), Larnaca, Cyprus (April 29), Philadelphia, USA (April 2, 2014), Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Turkey (May 22, 2014), Edinburgh, Scotland (May 28, 2014), Miami, USA (June 10, 2014) and Dallas/Fort Worth, USA (July 1, 2014).

Qatar Airways was presented with three honours at the annual Skytrax 2013 World Airline Awards held during the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, France in June.
