PHILADELPHIA, Patriot Games Returning To Army-Navy Weekend With New Team Challenges

Cadets And Midshipmen Will Face Off In Five Head-To-Head Events

PHILADELPHIA, 2012-12-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — A Philadelphia Army-Navy tradition, the Patriot Games presented by USAA is an exciting two-day competition between teams of Cadets and Midshipmen. The team to accumulate the most points after five events will win this year’s bragging rights and be presented with the Patriot Games trophy between quarters this Saturday at the 113th Army-Navy Game.

New challenges this year include a Leadership Reaction Course, Pull-Up Challenge, Tug-of-War and an Obstacle Relay.

The following details the exciting events taking place throughout Philadelphia:

•#1 Rocky Relay8:30 a.m.Friday, December 7
Steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, 26th Street & the Benjamin Franklin Parkway

(Open to the public)
As the sun rises over the City of Brotherly Love, so do the Cadets and Mids as they kick off the annual Patriot Games with a relay up the famous “Rocky Steps.” Strength and speed will be tested, and only the winners can do their best Rocky victory leap!

•#2 Leadership Reaction Course
10 a.m.
Friday, December 7
Independence Visitor Center, Market St. between 5th & 6th (open to the public)
The Leadership Reaction Course will be revealed to the participants at the start of the challenge. Leaders receive a mission, then brainstorm, execute, and readjust to complete it under a time restraint. The course includes mental and physical obstacles that can only be overcome with leadership and teamwork.

•#3 Pull-Up Challenge
Noon
Friday, December 7
The Shops at Liberty Place, 16th and Chestnut St. (open to the public)
Amid the cheering and the pep bands at the official Pep Rally, the Cadets & Mids attempt to complete as many pull-ups as possible.

•#4 Tug-of-War
3 p.m.
Friday, December 7
USS New Jersey Battleship, Camden, NJ (open to the public)
In the shadow of the USS New Jersey, the Cadets and Mids will see who possesses the strength and determination to win the Tug-of-War competition! The Battleship New Jersey is one of America’s most decorated battleships and is also of the region’s most fascinating museums.

•#5 Stadium Obstacle Relay
1:15 p.m.
Saturday, December 8
Lincoln Financial Field (game ticket required)
It all comes down to game day and a Stadium Obstacle Relay to determine this year’s Patriot Games champion

Competing for the Army squad will be the following cadets: Matt Fitzgerald, Everett Benson, KT Leonard, Hyangshim Kwak, Chance Carrick, Teddy Fong, Roberto Huie, Kevin Whitham, Chris Senese, Catherine Sedy and Dak Kibler

Navy competitors will be: Colin Bruton, Tyler Faris, James Mackovjak, Ian McGraw, Lindsay Rheiner, Kahra Kelty, Joseph Dinkel, Joseph Cirillo, Katie Whitcombe and Hunter Bloy.

The Philadelphia Sports Congress (PSC), a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, seeks to attract major sporting events and conventions to the Philadelphia area. The PSC produces the Army/Navy Game presented by USAA for the City of Philadelphia in conjunction with the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy and the Philadelphia Eagles.
