(PRESS RELEASE) VENICE, 2025-May-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice, a symbol of glamour and elegance, is set to undergo a stunning transformation under the guidance of renowned architect and interior designer Peter Marino. This multi-phase renovation, beginning with its first phase unveiled on May 27, 2025, aims to honor the hotel’s deep connection to the arts, its cultural legacy, and its iconic place in the heart of Venice’s history. The reimagination promises to elevate the hotel’s timeless spirit, blending classical sophistication with contemporary luxury, ensuring Hotel Cipriani remains one of the world’s most enchanting destinations.

“Since its opening, Hotel Cipriani has been a stage for the Italian ‘Dolce Vita,’ where timeless glamour meets relaxed luxury. It holds a personal place in my heart, and I am honored to redesign the future of this beloved hotel,” said Peter Marino, reflecting on his vision for the property. “The world’s great artists, actors, singers, and society mingled here, and my goal is to rekindle that magic.”

Set on the peaceful tip of Giudecca Island, Hotel Cipriani boasts panoramic views of St. Mark’s Square and the Venetian Lagoon. Surrounded by lush gardens and the iconic saltwater pool, this legendary hotel has long been an oasis of serenity, offering a secluded yet vibrant experience, just moments away from the bustling heart of Venice. With its rich cultural presence, the hotel has become a favorite among creative minds, international jetsetters, and tastemakers, all seeking a balance of privacy and celebration.

Venice’s role as a cultural crossroads is reflected in the hotel’s design, where elements of historical Venetian craftsmanship and artistry merge seamlessly with contemporary styles. This eclectic blend of eras and cultures is central to the identity of Hotel Cipriani, creating a unique atmosphere that is both sophisticated and timeless.

Peter Marino’s renovation vision revolves around three key artistic eras that will shape the hotel’s aesthetic experience:

Old Venice: Marino draws upon the city’s rich history, infusing the hotel’s design with references to Venice’s grandeur, creating a space that honors the magnificence of the city’s past. His deep connection with Venice, stemming from his role as Chairman of the Venetian Heritage Foundation, allows him to incorporate the mystery and allure of this unique city into the hotel’s design.

The 1950s and 1960s: This period, when Hotel Cipriani first opened, will be brought back to life through artworks that reflect the spirit of the mid-century Biennale, combining cultural entertainment and the evolving Dolce Vita lifestyle of the time.

Contemporary Art and Design: Marino’s incorporation of modern design elements and art will breathe new life into the hotel, ensuring that it remains a beacon of artistic sophistication while staying relevant in today’s world.

On May 27, 2025, Hotel Cipriani will reopen for the season, unveiling the first phase of the renovation. This includes a redesigned arrival experience with a light-filled, double-height lobby and the refined transformation of 13 rooms. Among the most significant updates are two luxurious master suites—Serenissima and Laguna—designed to resemble Venetian apartments, complete with a dining room, library, and salon, offering expansive views over the lagoon. Additionally, 11 Suites and Junior Suites with private balconies overlooking the Casanova Gardens will offer guests an enchanting and immersive stay.

“Our team is thrilled with the visionary work of Peter Marino, whose timeless elegance, contemporary design, and masterful curation of artwork will seamlessly blend classic sophistication with modern comfort,” said Thomas Schwall, General Manager of Hotel Cipriani. “This renovation marks a significant milestone for our Venetian icon, and we are excited to set the tone for the hotel’s next chapter, ensuring it continues to offer unparalleled service and ambiance for decades to come.”
