2012-10-2 — /travelprnews.com/ — There are double celebrations at The Atlantic Hotel today as we learn the phenomenal news that Ocean Restaurant has retained its coveted Michelin star for a seventh consecutive year and newly opened sister establishment Mark Jordan at the Beach has been awarded a most sought after Bib Gourmand.
Teams at both establishments had been on tenterhooks after listings from the 2013 Great Britain and Ireland Guide were accidentally leaked yesterday morning. But with official confirmation from Michelin now released, the champagne can begin to flow.
After hearing the news, Patrick Burke, owner of The Atlantic Hotel and Ocean Restaurant and co-owner of Mark Jordan at the Beach praised Executive Head Chef Mark Jordan and his talented kitchen brigade, “Well what a week this has been with the announcement of our AA success and now confirmation that Ocean has retained its Michelin star and Mark Jordan at the Beach has been awarded a Bib Gourmand. I am incredibly proud of all of our team who work tirelessly year-round to achieve the level of service and quality required to be listed amongst the very best restaurants in the country. With three Michelin-starred restaurants in Jersey we are so grateful to all of our suppliers for the wonderful fresh produce that our chefs can enjoy. We know this is a big part of our success.”
Speaking on behalf of Patrick’s wife Treena, and Mark and Magda Jordan, co-owners of Mark Jordan at the Beach, Patrick added: “It was always our ambition for Mark Jordan at the Beach to achieve a Bib Gourmand and to do so after being open for just one year is quite incredible. We are so proud that the Michelin inspectors have chosen our restaurant as one of their very favourites. This is some achievement.”
Ocean Restaurant is an exceptional fine dining restaurant that showcases modern British cooking with the emphasis on fresh local produce. The restaurant’s design is influenced by its stunning coastal location. White New England style shutters frame stunning views over the gardens to the sparkling ocean beyond. Mark Jordan at the Beach, sister restaurant to Ocean, offers laid-back beachside dining with top quality produce cooked simply in a superb location.
A Bib Gourmand is widely recognised as being the ‘Inspector’s favourite’ award and denotes good cuisine at a reasonable price. 2013 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland Editor, Rebecca Burr, commented: “In difficult financial times, establishments awarded a Bib Gourmand have been a real hit with our readers, proving that providing good value for money doesn’t have to mean compromising standards.”
The Michelin Guide is aimed at making travel a pleasurable experience. The key to the success of The Michelin Guide lies in its strict impartiality. Michelin’s inspectors visit establishments in complete anonymity and settle every bill.
