2013-08-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — The summer of 2013 has been the busiest in the history of Oslo Airport. In July, a new record for number of travellers in a single month was set when 2,219,419 passengers travelled via the airport, an increase of 7.1% from last year.
International routes grew the most, surging 10.4%, while domestic traffic increased 1.3%. The route to London saw the highest growth in July, increasing a whopping 18.2% from July 2012, while the route to Trondheim was the largest, with 103,593 passengers.
“We are very pleased with the growth in traffic for both the airlines and Oslo Airport. It’s difficult to handle such a large volume of traffic while the airport is in the midst of its largest expansion since 1998. On this basis we are pleased with the development of traffic this summer. The statistics are backed by the concerted efforts of all employees at Oslo Airport,” says Managing Director Nic Nilsen.
Statistics from FlightStats show that Oslo Airport ranked number three in the punctuality statistics for major airports in Europe in July. Figures from Oslo Airport show that 86.3% of flights were on schedule.
“Despite the heavy traffic, we managed to get most flights off on schedule. Good predictability makes travel easier for our passengers,” says Nilsen.
