CHICAGO, 2013-09-02 — /travelprnews.com/ — The O’Hare 5K/10K “Run on the Runway” and community day is just one month away! Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime chance to run on O’Hare’s newest runway, Runway 10C/28C, before it opens to air traffic.
On Sunday, September 29, O’Hare International Airport will welcome thousands of runners and walkers to race on its newest runway constructed as part of the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP).
Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and United Airlines are partnering to host a 5K/10K “Run on the Runway”. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
The 5K and10K courses will take participants along the new runway on O’Hare’s south airfield, offering a unique experience during the race and amazing photo opportunities afterward. This event is expected to sell out – so register soon.
In conjunction with the 5K/10K run, the CDA and its airport partners will hold a free outdoor “Community Day” festival from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring food vendors, live music entertainment and fun activities for kids and families – including a kids race, trolley rides to the runway, tents for Wounded Warrior Project and other community partners, and exhibits featuring specialized aircraft and airport equipment.
