New Training Initiative Supports Workforce Development and Builds Operational Expertise Within flydubai
(IN SHORT) flydubai has partnered with Emirates Aviation University to launch a Flight Dispatcher Cadet Programme beginning in July 2026, aimed at training Emirati nationals for critical operational roles in aviation. The 10-week GCAA-approved course will equip cadets with technical knowledge in flight planning, meteorology, aviation law and aircraft performance, preparing them for dispatcher licensing and long-term careers. The programme forms part of flydubai’s broader strategy to strengthen in-house expertise, expand career pathways and contribute to the UAE’s national workforce development and aviation sector growth.
(PRESS RELEASE) DUBAI, 2026-Feb-17 — /Travel PR News/ — flydubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Aviation University to jointly develop a Flight Dispatcher Cadet Programme, an initiative designed to strengthen the airline’s internal expertise while supporting the development of Emirati talent within the aviation sector.
The agreement was formalised by Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai, and Professor Ahmad Al Ali, Vice Chancellor of Emirates Aviation University, in the presence of senior airline leadership. The programme is scheduled to launch in July 2026 and will focus on recruiting Emirati nationals, offering them a pathway into specialised operational roles within aviation.
Participants will enrol in the Flight Dispatcher Initial Course at Emirates Aviation University, a 10-week programme approved by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority under CAR Part II regulations. The course provides comprehensive training in aviation law, meteorology, navigation, aircraft performance, weight and balance, human factors and flight planning, while emphasising the coordination between dispatchers and pilots to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
The cadet programme represents a strategic investment in flydubai’s long-term workforce development by establishing a structured entry route for individuals without prior aviation experience. By creating opportunities to build technical skills from the ground up, the initiative is intended to expand access to high-demand aviation professions and reinforce the airline’s operational training ecosystem.
The collaboration also reflects flydubai’s broader commitment to enhancing in-house capabilities and supporting the UAE’s human capital agenda through early-career development. Emirates Aviation University brings decades of experience in delivering industry-focused education and training, contributing its academic expertise to prepare candidates for professional certification and operational responsibilities.
Graduates who successfully complete the programme and meet examination requirements will receive a Certificate of Course Completion, enabling them to pursue a flight dispatcher licence and long-term careers within the aviation industry.
This initiative complements flydubai’s existing training efforts, including pilot development, engineering apprenticeships and internship programmes, all aimed at cultivating a sustainable pipeline of skilled professionals to support the airline’s continued fleet and network expansion.
