New SAS–TAROM codeshare agreement enhances travel options via Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm
(IN SHORT) SAS and TAROM have launched a new commercial codeshare agreement effective from 9 February 2026 that expands travel options between Scandinavia and Romania by linking TAROM’s Bucharest services with SAS’ flights via major European hubs. The partnership strengthens Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo as transfer points, leverages SAS’ strong punctuality record, and enhances the passenger experience through investments such as Starlink WiFi, delivering smoother, more connected journeys across both airlines’ networks.
(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, Sweden, 2026-Feb-3 — /Travel PR News/ — Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and TAROM have entered into a new commercial codeshare agreement designed to deepen connectivity between Scandinavia and Romania and to create smoother travel options across key European gateways. The partnership takes effect from 9 February 2026 and reflects both airlines’ commitment to expanding route choice and simplifying transfers for passengers travelling between the Nordic region and Southeast Europe.
Under the new arrangement, SAS customers will be able to book TAROM-operated flights linking Bucharest with major European hubs including Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, and Prague. From these points, travellers can seamlessly connect onto SAS-operated services to Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm, creating a more integrated travel experience between Romania and Scandinavia. In parallel, TAROM will place its code on selected SAS flights operating between these hubs and the Nordic capitals, reinforcing reciprocal access across both carriers’ networks.
Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, said that the agreement represents an important milestone in strengthening ties between the Nordic region and Romania. He emphasised that combining the two airlines’ networks through coordinated schedules and smoother transfers will provide customers with greater flexibility, convenience, and reliability when planning their journeys.
The collaboration also aligns with SAS’ broader network strategy by reinforcing Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo as central transfer points for travel between Northern and Eastern Europe. By connecting TAROM’s Bucharest-focused services with SAS’ extensive intra-Scandinavian and European network, the partnership is expected to increase passenger flows through SAS’ main hubs while enhancing overall connectivity for both airlines’ customers.
Operational performance is another pillar of the partnership. SAS’ strong punctuality record in 2025, when the airline was repeatedly ranked among the most reliable carriers globally, adds further value to the codeshare, ensuring dependable connections for passengers transiting through major European airports.
Travellers using the new codeshare services will also benefit from SAS’ continued investment in its onboard product, including the progressive rollout of high-speed Starlink WiFi across its fleet. These enhancements are intended to deliver a more comfortable and digitally connected experience whenever passengers fly on SAS-operated segments, complementing the broader network benefits created through cooperation with TAROM.
Through this agreement, SAS and TAROM aim to strengthen their presence in each other’s markets, improve network efficiency, and offer travellers a more coherent and attractive range of travel options between Scandinavia and Romania.
