New lead public body for Scotland’s heritage Historic Environment Scotland unveils its first Corporate Plan

Edinburgh, Scotland, 2016-May-26 — /Travel PR News/ — Historic Environment Scotland, the new lead public body for Scotland’s heritage, has unveiled its first Corporate Plan. Covering the period 2016-19 it sets out the direction for the organisation, which includes strong emphasis on collaboration and community empowerment.

Chair of Historic Environment Scotland Jane Ryder, OBE, said:

“I am immensely proud to be unveiling our first corporate plan, which is a major milestone for Historic Environment Scotland. As the lead body for the historic environment, our aim is to empower people to play a greater role in Scotland’s heritage. This will ensure it is cared for, protected, understood, valued, enjoyed and enhanced now and for future generations.

“The plan was shaped in no small part by a thorough interactive consultation exercise including existing stakeholders, and reaching out to new audiences on social media. This has helped shape our strategic direction in managing the historic environment which contributes £2.3 billion to the Scottish economy every year and supports over 60,000 jobs.

“The organisation can now look forward to an exciting future as we deliver on the plan by engaging and empowering communities and partners both national and local. We firmly believe that Scotland’s heritage is for all and it is our job to demonstrate the difference it makes to people and how it contributes to a better way of life in Scotland. I look forward to the journey ahead.”
