New Codeshare Agreement Between Air India and Air Mauritius Boosts Travel Options Across India, Mauritius, and Africa

(IN SHORT) Air India and Air Mauritius have expanded their codeshare agreement to enhance connectivity between India, Mauritius, Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar. The partnership adds 17 routes between the two carriers, allowing passengers to travel seamlessly on a single ticket. Air India will now offer flights to Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Antananarivo via Mauritius, while Air Mauritius will place its code on Air India flights across key Indian cities. The new codeshare flights will be available for booking starting 1st July 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) GURUGRAM, 2025-Jun-2 — /Travel PR News/ — Air India and Air Mauritius have expanded their codeshare partnership, significantly enhancing connectivity between India and key destinations in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean region. The expanded agreement was signed during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, with Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India, and Kishore Beegoo, Chairman of Air Mauritius, present at the event.

The enhanced codeshare agreement will see both airlines placing their designator codes on 17 routes, facilitating seamless travel for passengers between India, Mauritius, Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar. Under the new partnership, Air India will add its ‘AI’ code on Air Mauritius flights to and from Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa, and Antananarivo in Madagascar. This enables Air India customers to fly to these cities via Mauritius on a single ticket, with baggage checked through to their final destination. Air India already places its designator code on Air Mauritius flights between Mauritius and Mumbai, Delhi, and Réunion.

Similarly, Air Mauritius will place its ‘MK’ code on Air India flights from Mauritius to major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Goa. This codeshare will offer more flight options for passengers traveling between India and Mauritius, as well as onward travel to destinations across Africa and the Indian Ocean region.

Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, emphasized the significance of the partnership, saying, “India is a major tourism and trade partner for Southern Africa, including Mauritius and South Africa. This expanded codeshare with Air Mauritius is a key step in broadening our global network and providing easier access to these destinations for our passengers.”

Beyond Mauritius, passengers can conveniently access Réunion, South Africa, and Madagascar, while experiencing the diverse culture and cuisine of Mauritius.”

The expanded codeshare flights will be available for booking from 1st July 2025 through both Air India’s and Air Mauritius’ booking channels, as well as through travel agents.
