New Campervan Service from Narita Airport Combines Mobility, Accommodation and JAL Miles for Travelers

(IN SHORT) Japan Airlines and JAL Airtech have launched JAPAN RV TRAVELLER, a campervan rental service starting from Narita International Airport that allows travelers to explore Japan flexibly while earning JAL Miles. The initiative aims to support regional tourism by addressing transportation and accommodation gaps in rural areas and offering a combined mobility and lodging solution. Developed in collaboration with VANTECH, the service includes specially designed vehicles with premium features and remote-work capabilities. Future plans include expanding the platform into a nationwide booking system, creating a seamless travel experience that integrates vehicle rental, parking and local activities.

(PRESS RELEASE) TOKYO, Japan, 2026-Apr-1 — /Travel PR News/ — Japan Airlines and JAL Airtech have introduced “JAPAN RV TRAVELLER,” a new campervan rental service designed to offer travelers a flexible and immersive way to explore Japan, starting from Narita International Airport.

Launched in April 2026, the service combines mobility and accommodation, allowing users to travel freely across the country while earning JAL Miles. By integrating aviation connectivity with road-based travel, the initiative aims to create a seamless journey experience, particularly for international visitors seeking to explore beyond major urban centers.

The service also addresses challenges in regional tourism, including limited transportation and accommodation options in rural areas. By providing RV-based travel solutions, JAL and JAL Airtech aim to bridge the “last mile” gap and encourage tourism in less accessible regions. The RV fleet will be managed using JAL Airtech’s operational expertise in maintaining specialized vehicles.

To mark the launch, the companies have collaborated with VANTECH Co., Ltd., a leading Japanese RV manufacturer, to introduce special edition campervans featuring custom aircraft-inspired designs, including crane motifs. These vehicles are equipped with premium features such as high-speed Wi-Fi suitable for remote work, onboard amenities inspired by JAL’s inflight services and enhanced comfort for extended travel.

Looking ahead, the companies plan to expand the concept into a nationwide booking platform by partnering with RV operators at airports across Japan. The goal is to create an integrated system where travelers can arrange vehicle rentals, overnight parking and local activities in a single booking experience, supporting a new style of travel that combines flexibility, convenience and local engagement.

The service begins with a fleet of 24 vehicles and includes 24/7 English-language customer support. Reservations opened on April 1, 2026, with users earning one JAL Mile for every 200 yen spent. Special collaboration vehicles are expected to become available from July 2026.
