MGTO and IC participates at the 23rd Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART)

Macao, China, 2019-Mar-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) marked their presence in the 23rd Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from 18th to 21st March, once again co-running a Macao Pavilion and bringing a delegation of film and television industry professionals to the event to showcase Macao as an ideal backdrop for films, foster exchange between local and international film and television industry professionals as well as widen publicity for the 4th International Film Festival & Awards Macao.

MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong, Head of Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of IC, Ho Hong Pan, and Head of Tourism Product and Events Department of MGTO, Jennifer Si Tou, attended FILMART together with others.

At the Macao Pavilion, four film and video production entities from Macao including Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association (MFTPA), Bacalhau Entertainment Productions Limited, Macau Film, and Marching Productions connected and tapped into cooperation opportunities with international filmmakers and industry delegates to enhance Macao’s exposure in the global community of filmmakers during the four-day event starting today (18 March).

A showcase of local filming backdrops from the past two decades
With this year marking the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Macao Pavilion showcases the city’s various locations that once served as the backdrop for different movies in the past two decades, alongside a display of photos and videos under the “Experience Macao Cinematic Style” campaign. Taken through the lens of 15 young and renowned photographers and KOLs from Hong Kong with the latest filming technology, the collection of aerial videos, 360-degree panoramas and static images for the campaign has redefined the beauty of various picturesque filming locations in Macao.

MGTO strives to enrich the kaleidoscope of cultural experiences for travelers in Macao by staging different cultural tourism products and events. The film and television industry can help the destination build an image of diversity and fuel tourism development, in turn supporting the city’s vision to become a world centre of tourism and leisure. In view of this, Macao launched the International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao in 2016 to introduce world-class exchange opportunities for the local cultural and creative industries and further raise Macao’s international profile.

Organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong International Film & TV Market is one of the largest film and TV market fairs in Asia, gathering renowned producers, distributors, investors and industry professionals from around the world. In 2018, FILMART attracted over 850 local and overseas exhibitors as well as 8,700 visitors from across the industry.
