Merseyside in battle for most popular rail route

2013-01-29 — /travelprnews.com/ — Virgin Trains’ customers have given a massive thumbs up to rail services between Liverpool and the capital. With a 96% satisfaction rating, Virgin Trains’ Liverpool services have been rated the second most popular in the country, nudged into second place only by the unique service operated on the Isle of Wight.

The rail watchdog Passenger Focus carries out large-scale independent research across the industry twice a year, and today released the results of its Autumn 2012 survey. 96% of Virgin Trains’ customers rated their overall experience as ‘satisfactory’ or ‘good’. Of the 79 routes covered by the survey only Island Line, which runs services between Ryde and Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, beat Virgin Trains’ score.

Virgin Trains’ Chief Executive Officer, Tony Collins said:

“Whether running over eight miles of track on the Isle of Wight or 194 miles between London and Liverpool, customers know what they want from their train operator and the independent National Passenger Survey is their chance to tell it like it is.
