Meet the leading women behing the grape at Dorchester Collection

Behind every great wine list is an even greater woman

2012-12-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — At least that is the case for three of Dorchester Collection’s properties: 45 Park Lane, Le Meurice, and Hotel Principe di Savoia, whose head sommeliers are Vanessa Cinti, Estelle Touzet and Alessandra Veronesi respectively. Not only do these leading ladies provide expert wine advice but their charm and passion for all things oenological, bring an added dimension to every dining experience at their hotels.

To celebrate women behind the grape, Dorchester Collection is delighted to announce that, for International Women’s Day 2013, these three sommeliers will join together to embark on a wine road trip where they will host three successive wine events in London, Paris and Milan commencing the celebrations on a fitting WineWednesday:
– Wednesday, 6 March, London
– Thursday, 7 March, Paris
– Friday, 8 March, Milan (International Womens Day)

These events will toast female achievements in wine, and no doubt inspire lively discussions on female wine makers, next generation wine families, the female palate and simply being a woman in the sommelier world. The sommeliers will compare Old World and New World wines with two wine selections from American, French and Italian wines.The intimate affairs will host up to a maximum of 20 guests from 7-8pm with wine and canapés included for €120/£100 per person.

Alternatively, guests can choose to embark on a wine road trip and attend all three events for €2,000/£1,600 including a one night stay at each property (excluding transportation). In this instance, each night a complimentary bottle of wine selected by the hotel’s sommelier will be placed in the guest’s room ahead of their arrival.

Female guests staying at the hotels during this time in the respective cities will also receive a 10% discount on selected spa treatments and a complimentary glass of champagne at lunch.

Vanessa Cinti, head sommelier at 45 Park Lane, says “I’ve loved introducing a greater selection of American wines to London at CUT at 45 Park Lane, Wolfgang Puck’s first venture in Europe. The feedback from guests in the restaurant has been wonderfully positive. These evenings will be a celebration of all that wine brings to an occasion and the moments that different wines evoke for the individual woman. In the past decade we have definitely seen an increase in women not just as wine consumers, but also as wine makers and sommeliers and we are looking forward to celebrating International Women’s Day together.”

Estelle Touzet, head sommelier at Le Meurice, says “One of the reasons why I love my position is that I am lucky enough to be in an exceptional place, working with passionate people who are always enthusiastic. I have the opportunity to compose a wine list with complete freedom which takes our clients on a trip through French and foreign vineyards, tasting daring blends. Clients trust us and you can’t put a price on that – I am really looking forward to sharing the Le Meurice experience with fellow female professionals in London and Milan.”

Alessandra Veronesi, head sommelier at Hotel Principe di Savoia, says “Being a sommelier for me is both a profession and a passion. It allows me to travel and enrich my knowledge by experiencing wines from all over the world. I truly enjoy what I do and nothing gives me greater pleasure than to discover small and unknown wineries. I can’t wait to share this experience with fellow women interested in the delicacies of the grape.”
