Massport relaunches Back Bay Logan Express from October 3rd

Another great option to and from Logan that reduces congestion

BOSTON, MA, 2022-Sep-26 — /Travel PR News/ — The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is pleased to announce the relaunch of the Back Bay Logan Express (LEX) beginning on Monday, October 3rd. The service was halted during the pandemic due to a lack of ridership, and then a bus driver shortage delayed the restart. The Back Bay location is convenient for area students, business and leisure travelers. Massport also operates LEX service in four suburban locations including Braintree, Framingham, Woburn and Peabody, now at the North Shore Mall. These high occupancy vehicle (HOV) initiatives provide an efficient way to get to and from Logan Airport while reducing emissions.

“We are thrilled to relaunch the Back Bay Logan Express and we thank our passengers for their patience during the closure,” said Massport CEO Lisa Wieland. “Massport is committed to offering cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and efficient modes of transportation to and from the airport. Logan Express is a popular option that helps save time and money for traveling individuals and families.”

A ride from Boston’s Back Bay to Logan Airport costs $3, and from Logan to the Back Bay is FREE. Back Bay LEX riders will also be given a Ticket to Skip, allowing them access to the front of the TSA security checkpoint line.

The Back Bay pick up and drop off sites are just outside the MBTA’s Back Bay Station. This partnership with the MBTA provides a smooth transition for customers who use the Orange Line and Commuter Rail.

More information:

  • The Back Bay LEX buses are scheduled every 30 minutes daily;
  • The starting point for the bus route is across from the MBTA’s Back Bay Station on Dartmouth Street, with an additional stop in front of Prudential Center on Boylston Street;
  • Trips leaving Back Bay Station run from 5am-9pm;
  • Trips leaving Logan Airport run from 6am-10pm;
  • Tickets will be sold on online beginning October 2nd at loganexpress.com and on the bus beginning October 3rd;
  • All LEX buses drop off and pick up passengers curbside at each of Logan’s terminals.
