The exhibition, on view through February 10, 2019, is the first of its kind to examine the role of empresses in shaping China’s last dynasty, the Qing dynasty. Featuring nearly 200 spectacular objects from Beijing’s Palace Museum, the exhibit shares the untold stories of imperial womens’ influence on court politics, art and religion.

Mandarin Oriental, Boston’s Empress Package is available for the duration of the exhibit and includes:

  • Two VIP tickets and an exhibition catalogue to the Empresses of China’s Forbidden City at the Peabody Essex Museum
  • Access to Yin Yu Tang, a 200-year-old Chinese house at the Peabody Essex Museum

Package rates start at USD 1,095 per night.

Following its time in Boston, the exhibit will travel to Washington DC, where Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC will offer guests the Empress package.
