2012-11-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) together with representatives from Maldives Tourism Industry have participated in the 36th Annual DEMA (Dive Equipment and Marketing Association)  Dive Show 2012 which took place in Las Vegas USA, from 14th  – 17th November 2012.

DEMA Dive Show is WORLD’S ONLY international event for the scuba diving industry focused for trade visitors. In this year DEMA Show is being showcased by 400 dives operators across the world. DEMA show is held in the states of Florida and Nevada alternatively. According to the market experts Florida and Nevada are the 2 states in USA that focuses intensively on the dive segment.

Maldives Tourism industry was represented by MMPRC and 6 travel agents who are specialized in organizing diving holidays to the Maldives.

USA is an emerging market to the Maldives. Maldives representation in DEMA show 2012 will increase Maldives publicity as a dive destination among US dive community and also contribute destination commitment to travel industry.

End of last year, Maldives received 14,490 tourists from USA. The market grew by 26.2% during 2011 with a 1.6% market share. By the end of September 2012, Maldives recorded a total of 10,899 arrivals from USA which is an increase of 10.0% compared to the same period of 2011. MMPRC predicts that the total number of tourist from USA will reach over 15,000 in 2012.
