2013-04-02 — /travelprnews.com/ — Maldives is currently taking part in Russia’s largest B2B travel and tourism exhibition, Moscow International Exhibition (MITT 2013) held from 20th to 23rd March 2013. MMPRC together with 44 representatives from 23 companies are participating in this exhibition.

This exhibition began with a ministerial Summit. The Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinskiy, as well as international tourism ministers and leading experts, has discussed issues influencing the international inbound and outbound tourism market. Tourism Minister’s from Cuba, France, Kazakhstan were in the panel of the Minister’s Summit. This is the first time that MITT is hosting a ministerial level summit and the organisers have announced that they have planned to host the Summit as a major event in the future. Minister of Tourism for the Maldives has been given the opportunity to take part in MITT 2014 Minister’s Summit.

With over 3,000 participating companies and 197 destinations and an estimation of over 80,000 visitors, MITT fair will be a key meeting point for the tourism industry.  In addition, participating in this exhibition will lead to the development of important contacts with the tourism stake holders. The first two days of the fair are open exclusively for trade professionals.  The Maldives Delegation is meeting the industry professionals and discussing collaborative ways of promoting Maldives in Russia.

Russia is a very important market to Maldives. By the end of February 2013, 15,798 tourist arrivals were recorded from Russia. With 8.2% market share, Russia is the second largest market to Maldives. The arrivals from Russia are expected to increase in the upcoming months.
