Macau Government Tourist Office held first event in Nice for long-haul market expansion

2013-02-27 — /travelprnews.com/ —  Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) held its first trade event during the Nice Carnival Parade in Nice, the French city, aiming to widen the long-haul tourist market and diversify the visitor sources for Macau.

In cooperation with Cultural Affairs Bureau, MGTO led Macau’s performing teams to France for the first-time participation in the Nice Carnival Parade. During the magnificent event, MGTO took the occasion to host the French travel trade and media representatives in Nice on February 25 and thus promote Macau. Consul General from the People’s Republic of China in Marseille, Bian Jianqiang, Deputy Mayor of Nice, Rudy Salles and MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes attended the evening banquet for trade exchange.

During the banquet, Director Fernandes presented Macau’s latest tourism industry trend as well as its progress of development into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. She also promoted the multi-destination itineraries to Macau in hope of extending the French visitors source. Fernandes remarked that over 42,000 French citizens visited Macau last year and their average length of stay in hotel approximated to 3 nights, suggesting that Macau truly enchants French visitors for a leisurely trip around the city.

During the stay in Nice, Fernandes made a courtesy visit to Deputy Mayor of Nice, Rudy Salles and met with Francis Kolb, representative of the tourism and hotel management school named Paul Augier. Fernandes also joined with Director General of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Nice, Denis Zanon to enjoy the Nice Carnival Parade.
