Lufthansa Expands Long Haul Network with Kuala Lumpur Route Featuring New Allegris Cabin

(IN SHORT) Lufthansa Airlines will launch a new nonstop service between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur starting 25 October 2026, operating five times per week using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner equipped with the airline’s new Allegris cabin. The route strengthens Lufthansa’s presence in Southeast Asia and provides improved connectivity between Europe and Malaysia through the Frankfurt hub. Malaysia remains a major tourism and business destination, welcoming more than 42 million visitors in 2025 and hosting over 700 German companies. With the addition of Kuala Lumpur, Lufthansa expands its Southeast Asia network to four destinations alongside Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket, reinforcing its strategy to grow in the region while offering upgraded long-haul travel experiences.

(PRESS RELEASE) COLOGNE, Germany, 2026-Mar-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Lufthansa Airlines is expanding its Southeast Asia network with the introduction of a new nonstop route between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur, set to begin on 25 October 2026. The year-round service will operate five times per week, strengthening the airline’s presence in one of the world’s most dynamic travel regions and improving connectivity between Europe and Malaysia.

The new route will depart Frankfurt at 9:30 PM as flight LH704 and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4:40 PM local time the following day. The return service, flight LH705, will leave Kuala Lumpur at 11:55 PM and land in Frankfurt at 6:00 AM the following morning. The schedule has been designed to align with Lufthansa’s global network through its Frankfurt hub, allowing passengers to connect conveniently to destinations across Europe and beyond.

Flights will be operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, the newest and most fuel-efficient aircraft currently in Lufthansa’s fleet. The aircraft will feature 287 seats arranged across three cabin classes and will include the airline’s new Allegris cabin concept, which introduces upgraded seating and enhanced onboard comfort.

Jens Ritter, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Airlines, said the new service reflects the company’s strategy to grow in Southeast Asia while enhancing the travel experience through modern aircraft and upgraded cabin design. The introduction of the Allegris cabin is intended to deliver a high level of comfort for both leisure and business travelers while reinforcing the airline’s premium positioning.

Malaysia represents a key destination in the region due to its strong tourism appeal and growing economic importance. In 2025, the country welcomed more than 42 million visitors, making it the most visited destination in Southeast Asia. Its combination of cultural diversity, natural landscapes and historical attractions continues to attract travelers from around the world.

Beyond tourism, Malaysia also plays an important role in international trade and investment. Germany is Malaysia’s largest trading partner within the European Union, and more than 700 German companies operate in the country. Lufthansa expects continued growth in passenger demand linked to both business travel and tourism.

The new Kuala Lumpur service will make Lufthansa Airlines the only carrier offering nonstop flights to Malaysia from the Lufthansa Group’s core European markets, which include Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Italy.

With the addition of Kuala Lumpur, Lufthansa will expand its Southeast Asia network to four destinations. The airline already serves Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket, and the new route is expected to further strengthen connections between Europe and the region.

By introducing the Frankfurt–Kuala Lumpur service and deploying its newest long-haul aircraft, Lufthansa aims to capture rising travel demand while offering improved comfort and efficiency on long-distance routes.
