From Munich to Iceland and Crete in the summer
MUNICH, 2015-5-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Two popular holiday islands can be found on the new summer flight schedule from Munich: Iceland and Crete – the largest volcanic island in Europe and the largest Greek island, will be served every Saturday from 23 May 2015. The new connection to the Icelandic airport Keflavik also complements the service from Frankfurt: Iceland is on the flight schedule three times a week at Germany’s largest hub. Lufthansa will only fly to the Cretan airport in Heraklion from Munich. “For many passengers, the two destinations are on their list of dream destinations. The variety of historical and tourist attractions make them particularly interesting destinations for travel lovers”, says Thomas Klühr, Member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board, Finance & Hub Munich. In addition to Keflavik and Heraklion, this summer Lufthansa will fly to Glasgow/Scotland, Seville/Spain and Perugia in Umbria/Italy for the first time.
Iceland offers spectacular scenery, with active volcanoes, glaciers and waterfalls. With more than 8,000 inhabitants, Keflavik is the sixth largest city in Iceland. In addition to the port, the international airport makes Keflavik one of the most important locations in Iceland. The nearby capital Reykjavík offers numerous museums and tourist attractions.
Crete is renowned for its good tourist infrastructure and more than a thousand kilometres of coastline. Picturesque historical architecture and museums also make Heraklion an interesting destination. The Mediterranean climate of Crete is characterised by dry and warm temperatures, thus making May to September an optimum time to travel to the island.
The round trip to Iceland can be booked from 249 euros, to Crete from 129 euros. More information and the opportunity to book Lufthansa flights can be found online at LH.com or via the Lufthansa Service Center by calling (069) 86 799 799 (landline rate). Flights can also be booked at the Lufthansa travel agency partners and at the Lufthansa sales counters at airports.
