LondonTown.com: Join London Zoo’s celebrations for a very special bear

A weekend of family events has been arranged to celebrate association with former Zoo resident Winnie The Pooh

LONDON, 2014-7-9 — /Travel PR News/ — One of London’s most popular attractions, London Zoo, will be celebrating the story of one of the world’s favourite characters this summer. The Little Creatures family festival will take place between Friday 29th August and Sunday 31st August in celebration of Winnie The Pooh, the star of countless much-loved books and films and whose origins lie inside London Zoo. The zoo is located in Regent’s Park close to Camden and Primrose Hill, where you can also grab a bite at some of the best restaurants in London. To see what is in offer in the area, see LondonTown.com, London’s best website for information about the city and London restaurants, hotels, shops and bars.

London Zoo’s relationship with Winnie The Pooh goes back to the First World War. Winnie was a black bear and mascot for a Canadian regiment who was given to the zoo, where she was frequently visited by AA Milne and his son, Christopher Robin. Milne began to tell stories about the bear, which eventually became the cherished children’s books featuring Winnie, Piglet, Eeyore and many others.

At Little Creatures, guests will enjoy a day out with a difference, with events and activities inspired by AA Milne’s characters including an exhibition featuring the books’ original illustrations. Children will come face-to-face with more of ZSL London Zoo’s loveable animals including excitable tiger cubs, friendly kangaroos and sweet-natured donkeys, while over in the owl’s house, children can meet some of the zoo’s wisest residents. In the Animal Adventure café, tea and honey will be served to creatures of all sizes while children will also be encouraged to bring along their favourite teddies for the Teddy Bears’ Picnic with prizes including ‘most adventurous bear’ for the most well-travelled of their companions.
