2013-07-09 — /travelprnews.com/ — London City Airport has broken its all-time passenger record, just weeks after setting it.
The only airport actually in London, LCY welcomed 80,315 passengers during the last week of June, beating the previous record of 78,700 set in May.
The figure represents an increase of 20 per cent compared to the same period in 2012.
Load Factor has been consistently strong and continued to improve throughout the first half of 2013, while movements have also increased thanks to new routes to Germany, Italy and Norway, and additional rotations on existing services.
Matthew Hall, Chief Commercial Officer at London City Airport said: “Setting an all-time record in May was great, but to beat it within a few weeks is really terrific. The numbers prove that our strategy is working and that our airline partners are delivering the services that passengers want. While LCY will remain a predominantly business airport, the mix of leisure routes that has now been established has undoubtedly attracted a new type of passenger, as well as encouraging our regular business travellers to also fly with us in their leisure time. We look forward to continuing to build our network.”
LCY is also celebrating maintaining its punctuality record, with statistics showing it to have the most on-time flights in the UK in Q1 2013, and the shortest average delay.
